Always is a very long time, how can you be so sure?

I didn't write the website at the other end of that link.

It goes to a Canadian news site, near as I can tell.

It certainly isn't a US site, as we don't spell "favor" that
way.

Here, let me help you..

At that site, it says that the homicide rate for the
previous ten years was basically flat, after a fairly long
decline since the 70's.

So all you need to say was that the 7% blip was an anomaly.

Wasn't that easy?

I didn't point to that site claiming that it was the end-all
be-all of all known knowledge from here to eternity with
regards to the homicide rate in Canada. I just wanted to
point out that it isn't entirely clear that the the homicide
rates were still in decline.

The fact that knife-based homicides were entirely
responsible for the 2011 7% rise was a complete surprise to
me. It goes along with what I've observed with regards to
the machete prevalence in Mexican homicides, so I suppose I
shouldn't have been as surprised as I was. But it did catch
me off guard.

What should be clear though, is that I was just on a whim
checking the veracity of the claims I've been hearing. I do
that for claims on both "sides" of this "debate".

What I'm finding is that it is no debate. There are gun-
banners publishing out-right lies, and freedom aficionados
that keep finding that the gun-banners are lying.

Reminds me of the early SCO vs. World+Dog days.
