It might be even quicker ...

I'm not sure of the details, but I think it is accepted science now ... one of
the inner planets is going to disappear in the near (astronomically speaking)
future.

Orbital changes are going to cause two of them to have a near miss, and the
sling-shot effect will eject one of them from the solar system. There is a
distinct possibility (fairly low, but given that the random figure is 25%, that
might be a 1 in 10 chance) that that planet will be Earth.

Sorry, I can't point you at any references, but I mentioned this in a letter to
New Scientist a fair few years ago, and they investigated and said "yes,
you're correct". It was about the time someone was launching a spacecraft
intended to follow the Pioneers out of the solar system, iirc.
