NRA: bring even more guns to schools
Authored by: artp on Saturday, December 22 2012 @ 10:13 PM EST
I often see police officers in grocery stores in certain
neighborhoods at night, even in Iowa. They are stationed
there, not just dropping in for a cup of coffee.

I don't see why public safety can't include schools.

As for teachers carrying guns, I think that would be fine
IFF they are trained properly. Some people should not ever
carry a gun. Forgetting where you put your gun in a school
is an accident waiting to happen.

An armed citizenry is one of the foundations of a secure
society. Enough of this waiting around for government to do
it for us. That has rarely worked, and this is too important
to hand off to someone else.

The cost of freedom is eternal vigilance and all that stuff.
If we want a safe society, we cannot ban all methods of
self-defense. That way lies madness.

NRA: bring even more guns to schools

Well, if hes carrying an assault rifle it would be a clue to
the guard/police officer not let the person in and draw
their weapon.
}

How many guards will it take to cover an entire school, so that the shooter has
no chance to act? IIRC, Lanza shot out a window, to get past the usual
security. How many windows in a typical school? Can you cover them all?

Bottom line, in a situation such as this, how many kids will die before the
guards can act? The answer is very likely greater than zero. How many of those
kids would have died if Lanza's mother didn't have those guns? Likely none.
