Will the NRA pay for more guns at schools
Authored by: Anonymous on Friday, December 21 2012 @ 04:12 PM EST
I hope the NRA will pay for the guards and weapons.

Let's see one guard at very small schools. For places with multiple buildings
it would need maybe half a dozen guards maybe more. If there are evening events
then that will mean a second shift so double the guards required.

That also assumes that there will be an all pervasive CCT system, presumably the
NRA will pay for that. And person(s) to monitor it all the time. NRA to pay
for that as well?

The only advantage I can see is that the NRA would soon be bankrupted by the
cost and no longer able to lobby (bribe?) politicians.

They've always wanted to expand their reach. Now coming to a
school near you.

NRA: bring even more guns to schools. Sounds like a good idea.
Authored by: Kilz on Friday, December 21 2012 @ 08:33 PM EST
It makes a lot of sense to me. Even if some weapons are no
longer available, there are going to be some guns available.
All I keep reading is about banning so called "assault rifles". But in
the latest case, while a rifle was found in
the car of the shooter, it wasnt the weapon that killed all
those kids. It was two common handguns.
The government will never ban handguns. Even if we do so
many of them are out in the public that they are easy to
get. The only way to protect the kids is to put a trusted individual with a gun
in place to stop those that would kill
children.

NRA: bring even more guns to schools

Maybe they could share space with prisons. When the criminals are out on day
parole they children could be in for classes. School was bad enough when the
only threat was detention, a ruler across the knuckles or the strap. What will
happen when the teachers can live out their Dirty Harry fantasies?

Disgusting
Authored by: Anonymous on Saturday, December 22 2012 @ 12:52 AM EST
For the NRA to use a tragedy such as this as an opportunity to increase sales is
disgusting beyond belief.

NRA: bring even more guns to schools

The NRA is missing the point

The first thing a shooter would do is take out the guard
abd carry on as usual.

Hold gun owners responsible.
Authored by: Anonymous on Sunday, December 23 2012 @ 03:40 PM EST
If the owners of guns were held responsible for the use of their weapons, maybe
they would take a bit more care with storage. In this case the estate should be
sued for multiple wrongful deaths, the insurance companies will pay up and raise
the premiums on all other gun owners who do not have their weapons properly
stored. Having a trigger lock on the weapon in a locked cabinet with the
ammunition stored in a separate locked container makes it hard for a rash
decision to result in death.

I had 3 unlocked guns in my house growing up, but there was never any black
powder for the muskets or shells for the buffalo gun.

The real issue is Mental Health - not Gun Control
Authored by: dlrapp on Sunday, December 23 2012 @ 05:53 PM EST
Ronald Reagan dismantled the Mental Health Care system in
the US during his presidency. Nearly every mass shooting that
has occurred here in the USA since then involves a shooter with
"mental health issues" or "a history of mental health
problems".
Columbine, Sandy Hook Elementary, the mall in the Portland
suburb, The Cafe Racer in Seattle, the theater in Aurora, and
on and on. All of these shootings were perpetrated by mentally
unstable people. It is also worth noting that an overwhelming
majority of homeless people here in the US have mental
problems. It is my opinion that the US needs to start dealing,
meaningfully, with the issue of Mental Health Care.

We need a new term
Authored by: Anonymous on Monday, December 24 2012 @ 10:56 AM EST
I suggest Gunbois and am reminded of the two sayings:-
"There are none so deaf as those who will not hear" and "those
who live by the sword shall die by the sword". for sword substitute 'gun'.
That's bound to annoy somebody.
