Have they removed memory mgmt from user space?

I'm way out of touch with current MS strategies, but I recall applications once had to manage their own memory.

Has that actually been totally done away with?

Too slow to handle the bloat.

But they didn't fully rewrite it clean out the cruft (in spite of the
advertising), so I think a lot of the message passing overhead remains.

And the lack of a true rewrite is why so many security vulnerabilities remain. I
do understand that the kernel has actually gotten better... but crap remains.
