An armed citizenry is a responsible citizenry

Interesting. The last visit I made to the Naples area, the Mafia seemed to have
such a strangle-hold that the government itself wouldn't touch them (either
they're afraid of them or they themselves have become corrupted by them).
Interesting to note that the Mafia there seem to be the only ones toting guns.
I've seen this is several European countries, actually. How is it that a
citizen can protect themselves from these bullies? Not only do they not have
the ability to defend themselves, they don't even have the option of going to
the authorities.

In Mexico, guns are on their way to becoming illegal, and they're trying awfully
hard to tighten the controls even more. Hows that logic working out for them?
Now, they've got drug lords more powerful than ever, more murders than ever,
more crime than ever. Mexico has had a corrupt government for quite a while,
and it's not going to change without the people standing up and saying
"We've had enough!" But enough of the comparing.

The US government does not play the role of master to it's citizens, but instead
it plays the role of servant. The government here represents us. We don't
represent the government. Tea tends to get a bit salty around here when it
comes to questioning this, in case you hadn't noticed. :)

Finally, guns are a tool (and they have many sub-categories to fit their
specific purposes). In all categories, they can be used responsibly and they
can be used irresponsibly. One does not use a hammer to drive in a screw any
more than he uses a screwdriver to cut metal.

Saying guns are the problem follows the same logic that some people use in
regards to Linux. I've heard it said that because Linux is a very powerful
operating system, that it could serve the potential of doing very bad things.
But does that mean that all Linux distributions should therefore be made
illegal? How about just certain distributions? It is the same, flawed logic
perpetrated by either the erroneous or the deviant (to put it gently).
