We've been told to be afraid of everything.

That would be the drug dealers. Which I mentioned I was afraid of.

Please show me a drug dealer who is more than happy to obey a law that says he
can't carry a semi-auto weapon, or even an assault weapon (which are banned
already). Considering the drug cartels smuggle in weapons (including fully
automatic UZI's and AK-47's they purchase for 20-50 bucks apiece in uncontrolled
areas of South America) and drugs on the same mules.

You don't live in the US, I do. Until you've live with a situation where
powerful criminal organizations smuggle drugs and guns over your border, and are
extremely violent and use intimidation tactics like shooting your family to
scare anyone who stands up to them, you should probably not pass judgements on
anyone else.

"assault rifles" have been heavily regulated in the US since
the National Firearms Act of 1934.

As for removing guns from the equation, that ship has
sailed. You cannot un-invent the firearm. It is here to
stay.

As for the wisdom of giving way to the gun-banners:

deprive them of their arms."
Aristotle

anyone who lays down his arms deserves what he gets."
