Gun huggers: Deport Piers Morgan

This is not fair, The US has given me a reason to like Piers Morgan.

Oh well, Merry Christmas one and all.

Disclaimer: I'm not a US citizen, and I believe the Second Amendment has outlived its utility.
National Radio in New Zealand usually credits its listeners with the ability to hear the message, and make separate conclusions about the messenger. I admit this became difficult this morning when Piers Morgan loudly and uncivilly tore apart the gently spoken reasoning of Larry Pratt of the Gun Owners Assn of America in this exchange .

Can 45,000 people really be so inane as to sign on to such a thing? Did they
ever hear of the First Amendment, by the way? These kind of reactions remind me
of the kind of fundamentalist furor that can erupt when zealots believe their
faith is under attack. Totally disproportional.

Any chance of scrutinising the list of signatures to make sure they are all
really separate individuals? No astroturfing there?

Is their action not a violation of the first amendment, that of free speech? If
so, than what action can or should be taken against the filers of the petition,
and the signers of the petition?

The whole subject is stupid.

From wikipaedia: "Can. 29 of the Second Lateran Council under Pope Innocent
II in 1139 banned the use of crossbows against Christians"

It didn't work either.

Banning guns isn't going to work until you also ban all machine shops, and
blacksmith shops... and that includes all garages, service stations, body shops,
... and car and cooking tool manufacturing.

Guns are relatively easy to make. Ammunition only a bit more tricky as high
quality gunpowder needs careful grinding, but nothing prevents air powered
projectiles from working just as well...(the "fire" in firearm comes
from gunpowder).

Removing guns just means the mass murders will be commited using swords, knives,
and axes
(http://www.heraldsun.com.au/news/world/children-murdered-by-mad-axeman-in-china
/story-fnd134gw-1226479175491).

Going to ban axes?

The only way to reduce the problem is to reduce the population and general
technology level.

And that is not going to happen.

I do hope this doesn't happen. The UK seems like a nicer place without him...

Newtown should galvanize us like 9/11 galvanized us.
