In case you hadn't noticed, things have changed a bit over the past couple of
centuries. The threat these days is not from the government, but those who
claim they are protecting themselves from the government. Anyone remember Waco,
Texas, about 20 years ago? Tim McViegh, who managed to bomb a day care full of
kids? The Unibomber? In each and every one of these cases and more, someone
was so convinced the government was out to get them, that they committed mass or
multiple murder. If anything, this is even more reason for gun control, if only
to keep them away from such wackos.

One other point, in the news recently, a politician (governor of Texas?) stated
there should have been guns in that school so that the staff could have stopped
this guy. Why didn't he consider the possibility that if Lanza's mother didn't
have those guns, this situation would have never happened? Why did she need so
many? Supposedly she had them for self defense. Well my question becomes, how
many times was it necessary for her to use those guns for self defense? Now
weigh that against all those kids and teachers murdered by her son with those
"self defense" guns.
