Im afraid these poor wee kids are viewed by the gun lobby as
collateral damage. Acceptable casualties in the quest for
profit. It's that simple.
All this second-amendment business is a smokescreen. This is
about money. Lots and lots of money.
The fact is gun lovers have a right in the US to have guns.
They like having them. But let's be intellectually honest
about it and say so. Gun lovers who pretend they have guns
to prevent the English King from coming and stealing their
corn are at best being disingenuous.
Perhaps the NRA can put a number on how many innocent lives
need to be lost before the cost becomes too great. It sounds
like 20 doesn't cut it. What will? 50? 100? 1000?

I've never felt safe anywhere on the planet. I've been shot at, stabbed, had a
contract (mistakenly) taken out on my life because of a pot roast, been
kidnapped, twice, once at the point of a gun, beaten, etc. In all those bad and
terrible things that happened to me, a gun only came into play twice, and I
haven't told everything that I've been victim to. Getting rid of all guns
wouldn't make me feel safe. Owning a gun doesn't make me feel safe. Your
argument is a straw man.[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]
