This was a dirty game from the start, and it
will be a dirty game to the bitter end.
Apple's case is blowing up in their face, and
now it's all about beating the drum as hard
as possible before it all crumbles to dust,
and keeping their mouth shut afterwards.
I wouldn't be surprised if this ends a few years
down the line with Apple in shambles, with a
dramatically reduced market valuation and a
business one tenth the size of today, having
no more patents to assert and not getting one
cent in damages from Samsung. Hoever, that's
still a long way off.

Clearly, if Samsung hadn't defended themselves, then the patent wouldn't have
been reviewed by the USPTO, and thus wouldn't have been invalidated.
Therefore, Samsung is directly responsible for the loss of all future potential
earnings from this patent (which it seems other were paying Apple for...), so
they should have to pay, right?
