Perhaps one should be skeptical of a report (not reports) of
someone who is an avowed fan of Samsung and android just
happening to overhear numerous conversations in a short
period of time that tell him want he wants to believe.
That said, I don't think Samsung is particularly interested
in being the Apple replacement. They are incredibly
interested in being the Apple alternative. The fact that
they have been elevated to the "Apple" option is more than
sufficient, and allows them to dominate against other
Android manufacturers. In short, one could argue that
Samsung's anti-Apple ads are less about Apple than about HTC
etc.
(Think of this another way- once you posit a market with two
alternatives, then people will choose between the two. It's
either Coke or Pepsi, not RC. To the extent that Samsung
keeps the conversation about Samsung and Apple, the other
Android manufacturers, by definition, are not a part of that
conversation. If someone wants a smartphone, but doesn't
want an iPhone, then they'll "get a Samsung.")[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]

well, hardware-wise Samsung phones are better than Apple's. My sons i-phone4S
has long lost base station contact when my Samsung still allows me to make
calls.
