When this topic came up before, I thought I would try out the KDE 'Metro'
interface to make sure it still worked in the same way.
System Settings/Workspace behaviour/Workspace and change the Workspace type to
Netbook
KDE froze.
I deleted .kde and .local files, set up new user accounts and tried copying
Guest and root settings to my user files. Root and Guest worked fine, but I
could not restore my own account.
I wiped /home and / and reinstalled.
It used to work in past distribution versions. You get a screen full of large
coloured tiles and grouped into applications, system settings and a third group
which I think was multimedia. It worked well, but I needed the full-fat desktop.
