The least interesting results in experiments are the results that tell you that
your theory is correct. So this is either some systematic error, or something

Theory says it shouldn't, but the new testing appears to confirm it.
Wonder if there's a hardware/software problem with the detection gear that
they haven't found yet?

This is why it is good that there was no Nobel Prize already this year. It was
better to wait and see, for a 2nd confirmation, or, the unexpected like this.
