The Commonwealth is interesting. It comprises colonies (in the original Greek
sense): Canada, Australia, New Zealand (and except for 1776 the US would fit
here) and Imperial Possessions, in some of which there was some attempt to
colonise, but many of which were controlled either for economic exploitation or
for Imperial defence. There are also intermediates (such as South Africa) ...
The common point is that, at independence, all inherited a parliamentary system

A further three signatories, Egypt, Libya, Tunisia, I thought had
been liberated in the Arab Spring.
After an Arab Spring,
