I doubt the Foreman lied

Some employers do not fully compensate employees that serve
on juries; it can be a financial hardship for some people.

Also, the three could have had second thoughts about what
they agreed to in the jury room and felt that they needed
to speak up now. Sort of like during some marrage ceremonies
the question is put out asking if anyone present knows of
any reason why the couple should not be married, with the
implied statement of "speak now or forever hold your peace".

The fact that this resulted in a mistrial shows that this
part of the legal system is working correctly. In the case
of Apple vs Samsung, Hogan's escapades show that that part
of the legal system in not working correctly.

As an aside, both A$'s and M$'s behaviour cleary show how
frightend they are of actually having to compete in areas
where thay never had to compete before. Neither of them
are running in first place and will do anything to take
out the leader, except run faster.
