It's simple: Those numbers--1 and 1 minus 0.999..., in which ... means 9s stretching forever-- differ by exactly by 0....1--that is, by forever--by infinity--followed by a 1.

But you've made it TOO simple.

When you try to write it as 0...1 you forget that the 9's are infinite, therefore you never get to the 1. The 1 does not exist, except in your mind. You do not understand the problem.

You can do the same thing to any other problem in order to introduce a contradiction that isn't there. But it still doesn't make it so.

In reality, three thirds adds up to one.

But when represented in decimal maths, it doesn't.

What was that Einstein said about reality and maths?
