The rabid desire to redact makes me super suspicious. HTC wouldn't be so
worried about this document otherwise.
Ditto for Microsoft.

I don't see this is in any way helpful to FOSS.
If HTC and Apple have a patent agreement, that does not mean Apple have done
anything wrong; they are not responsible for distributing GPL code while having
a patent license. All they did is to offer someone a license.
On the other hand, HTC may be in that position and, according to the GPLv2, the
only solution is to not distribute. So Apple and Microsoft get a big win with
clean hands.
I don't believe it will go there; the patents in suit bear mainly on HTC's
additions to Android and, IIRC, the remainder are radio-related, which also
probably do not relate to Android. The Linux GPL preamble probably protects
