That may be the legal justification for it but it still amounts to govt. control
of the Internet. And it is *exactly* that sort of lame brain thinking that
gives ammunition to those that want UN (or some such) control of the Internet.
In this case the proposals put forward are draconian enough that wresting
control from the U.S. does not look particularly appetizing to much of the free
world at this time. But let the repressive forces in the U.S. govt, pressured
by the likes of the MPAA and RIAA, keep up their ill-considered schemes and the
day may come when very bad things happen as a result. Do I expect what is
currently happening at the ITU to be a wake-up call for the repressive forces in
and outside of our (U.S.) govt.? Unfortunately, no.[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]

What are the legal requirements, if the server is outside of the U.S. and owned
by a non-U.S. company and not doing anything illegal in that other country.
