Apple and MAD, and I sure am.
Authored by: Kilz on Saturday, December 08 2012 @ 11:17 AM EST
The general public needs to see the actions of Apple. They
need to see more than a few seconds of it on a news program.
Because if they did they would add to the destruction that
Apple is doing to itself with the mean spirited way they are
fighting over basically nothing. I know I will never again
buy anything from or dealing with Apple. Nothing for myself,
my immediate family, not even gift cards to iTunes for
younger relatives. Nothing.

275! Wow, almost to 300. Nearest competitor is Legal as She Spoke, the only other one to cross the 200 barrier with 205 votes. IPWatchdog is next with 198 votes.

Apple and Samsung File The Lists and a New Dispute on an Expert Declaration ~pj
Authored by: jimrandomh on Saturday, December 08 2012 @ 01:18 PM EST
It's really bothering me how big a deal the court is making of tight
deadlines and page counts. The case that Samsung has to make, arguing
for patent invalidity, is inherently more complex than the case Apple
has to make, which basically just consists of pointing at patents and
devices. So given equal time and pages, Samsung has to fight to squeeze
everything in, while Apple has lots of extra time and space with which
to use procedural bullshit to make trouble for Samsung. The result is
that, while giving equal page limits and strictly enforcing deadlines
might superficially seem fair, it's actually highly prejudicial to
Samsung. And we see the effects of this all over the case.

Sorry, that gesture's patented!
Authored by: BJ on Saturday, December 08 2012 @ 04:11 PM EST

Pretty soon, we'll have artificial limbs, whether or not from organic
tissue, that will be driven by inputs from real human nerves.

If it's up to Oracle, the interface between nerve and limb can be appropriated.

If it's up to Apple, you can't even make that gesture at all.

Bias -PJ
Authored by: Anonymous on Sunday, December 09 2012 @ 09:37 PM EST
"I can't tell you how much it bothers me that anyone would have to work
around patents like these. Apple wants to make it impossible for competing
devices to work as one would expect a device to work. "

"Work as one would expect a device to work"

You mean after Apple showed the world how things could work, everybody
expects them to work the Apple way?

Hindsight is great isn't it, you seem to ignore all the smartphones before the
iPhone.

Maybe people should get an education instead of reading this blog.

Android and Samsung could have done something new, instead the ripped
off Apple.

M$ has at least done something unique, google, not so much.

Everybody in the world knows that Samsung ripped off Apple just like they
did to Sony.

Only Android fans here have their heads up Googles butt so much to
support Samsung, PJ included.

I didn't post to have a rational discussion bc it obviously can't occur here
with biased people who only support the "home" team aka Google.

Move along people nothing to see here, this isn't a Google fan club post.

Tap to Zoom - user experience
Authored by: Anonymous on Sunday, December 09 2012 @ 11:23 PM EST
I've upgraded my iPod Touch 3 to the newest version. No, I don't
slavishly run out every year to do this, besides it's going on two
years since iPod Touch had an update. I wanted something with
a better camera, and better video performance than my cheap
Android phone. I'll spare you the ad listing what I like about the
new device. So when I play one of my old movies the subtitles
are cropped ?! and the Preference to change letter|pillar-boxing
has gone from the Settings menu ?! and it no longer rotates
90 degree steps with the device rotation ?! It took me 30 minutes
with Google, then d/l a 14MB pdf driver's manual, to find that
while a movie is playing, double tap on the picture toggles
between zoom to fit horizontal or zoom to fit vertical.

These things are supposed to be child's play to use.
I guess I'm just too old and stuck in my ways.

the costs
Authored by: Anonymous on Monday, December 10 2012 @ 01:22 PM EST
can someone tell me how much all this litigation has cost to
date as in all the lawyers judges and press ...heck lets
include pjs bandwidth for coverage....

my thought is all this could be called a waste as the
innovation neither is able to do is being tossed otu the
window.OH and could they hire more people then are involved if
they did not have to spend all this cash thus making the world
a better more employed place.
