Yup.

Mine was one the "1/2hr to boot" systems. And when the major benefit
seemed to be "all these programs you don't use will run faster as a
result", well ...

Fortunately I found a couple of simple make.conf incantations that deleted that
carp from my system - had to rebuild KDE which was slow :-( but it was time well
spent.

I dunno whether it's made it back on my old system - I'm pretty sure it's there
in my new system, but I don't care. X3 plus 16Gb most things run reasonably
quickly :-)

Dunno if I'm going to migrate to systemd, which should speed up boot, but it's
fast enough. (Gentoo defaults to OpenRC.)
