You don't watch enough YouTube, or you'd be aware that a
camera (any camera) preferrably handheld, in front of the TV
is de rigeur. Extra points come from some of the weirdest
Heath Robinson (Rube Goldberg for others) ways of recording
video. Sometimes truly archival material exists in the "public"
domain only in the form the unfortunate uploader could
capture it :(

Adding to my reply above I am now puzzled by the motive for
posting this on YT. The poster has only this one video, which
appears to me may have been recorded on a phone camera
at an overflow or subsidiary monitor in the Senate/Courthouse.
Still, it does add to the historical record, and archivists
must take material in whatever format it arrives. Pity about
the uncouth audience.

Didn't the RIAA state in some senate hearing that everyone has the ability to
use a recording camera to take 'fair use' snips from a TV or monitor and as such
there needs to be no exemption for ripping DVD within the DMCA.
If so, maybe it was the RIAA follower that uploaded :)[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]
