Nokia Lumina ad campaign
Authored by: Anonymous on Tuesday, December 04 2012 @ 12:26 PM EST
Here in NZ there are ads for the 920 and 710 which claim it runs 'Windows 8'.

With WP8 and WinRT being conflated with x86 desktop PCs this could lead to
confusion which will lead people to conclude that no Windows 8 will run the
software they are used to so they won't buy PCs with Windows 8.

I've seen an anouncement by Motorola
Authored by: marcosdumay on Tuesday, December 04 2012 @ 02:11 PM EST
I didn't even know they had Windows phones.

That's the only anouncement of any Windows phone I've ever saw. It came with a
quite high price + an expensive contract (more expensive than the iPhone
overall), and didn't tell it was running Windows in any part (I've taken the
time to read all the fine print).

Anyway, the phones were divided in two lines: a cheap one, and one with more
battery life (no mention of how long the battery actualy lasts).

Nokia Lumina ad campaign
Authored by: macrorodent on Wednesday, December 05 2012 @ 01:46 AM EST

The Finnish media has been saturated with Nokia Lumia 920 adds for weeks, but that should not be no surprise. Lumias (older models) are actually already pretty common here, judging by my unscientific commuter train observations (although the fact the train runs through Espoo may bias them a bit...). Said observations also reveal a disadvantage of phones with large touchscreens. Particularly with younger people, they are almost all cracked to some degree. Especially if they are iPhones, others seem to be less prone to cracking.

In the UK.....

.... in a similar manner, several pnobe brands and at least one large retailer
are advertising phones on TV which are clearly running Windoze 8, without
mentioning it at all, emphasising other features such as the camera. It doesn't
take all that much imagination to see why the OS is not mentioned. Basically,
Joe Public is fed up with Windoze, and the advertising agencies, who design the
adverts, know it.
