Why? Well for starters, in this day and age when most governments are at least making some token efforts towards reducing CO2 emissions by increasing the efficiency of energy consumers, this is lowering the efficiency of one, the charging system, substantially.

And, there is a significant health hazard.

I think there will be lots of prior art anyway, as various spivs and con-men have been proposing such things for charging anything up to even electric cars for some time now. The same two objections apply to all of them.

Wireless charging is for the utterly indolent, who have no care whatsoever about what their activities do to the environment, other nearby people, or even themselves.

er ... people have been prosecuted for stealing electricity by using inductive
links near powerlines ... the USSR powered a bug in the US embassy in Moscow
using microwaves ... these are the two asymptotic solutions ('near field', 'far
field') available for Maxwell's equations
