Dell Laptop XPS 13 with Ubuntu Linux?
Authored by: hardmath on Saturday, December 01 2012 @ 01:44 PM EST
Despite press articles touting the dynamic features of
Dell's XPS 13 Ultrabook preloaded with Ubuntu 12.04LTS, I
find it difficult to navigate their website and place an
order for this product.

Much the same experience I've had with contacting HP about
their Linux laptop offerings. Those offerings are uniformly
underpowered and generally hardware deficient, very likely
no longer in stock, and when customer service is asked about
them, you may be redirected to a different product
altogether with a rationale that Linux is "meant" for those
netbooks (now ultrabooks) that cannot handle Windows!!!

Dell Laptop Is $70 Cheaper with Ubuntu Linux
Authored by: Anonymous on Saturday, December 01 2012 @ 04:30 PM EST

Please note that; unlike the other laptops visible on the same page; none of these Linux laptops are configurable. They come with the lowest possible configuration of processors and memory and would barely function with Windows 7 let alone Windows 8.

Frankly, I sometimes wonder if there isn't an intentional consipracy to may Linux look bad by ensuring that it's always running on inferior hardware.
