A lifetime or so (more than 50 years) beyond the death of the originator is
*not* a limited time.

The approach is not pointless because I am not asking for a change in policy. I
am asking for the application of the current policy that abstract ideas are not
patentable.

Congress will not do anything unless it is in their best
interest to do so. I'm sure that if everyone here at
Groklaw enclosed a $100,000.00 check to the legistators
campaign fund everytime they wrote their congressman,
software patents might go away. However, the possibility
of that happening is probably 0.0.
