Linux arrives on loaded Dell ultrabook - Dell still gets it wrong
Authored by: Anonymous on Friday, November 30 2012 @ 03:23 AM EST
I think it's probably because they get a certain number of people who buy the
laptop, and then come back and complain because it's not Windows and
"doesn't work with our corporate network". Salesmen will always try to
minimize complaints (because when you're dealing with a complaint, you're not
earning a commission, and may in fact end up losing one). It is not necessary to
postulate some giant conspiracy to explain this general attitude.

This same effect is also why salesmen in general are reluctant to sell Windows
phones.

Slightly gimped screen. :(

I'd seriously be tempted to buy one of these, were it not for the screen. (I
bought an Asus Zenbook Prime 13.3" ultrabook a couple of months ago for
exactly that reason -- it was the only ultrabook with a proper 1920x1080 Apple
Macbook air beating display, apart from being a Macbook air beater in other
respects also. I wish manufacturers would realise that 768 pixels on the
vertical is simply not enough for serious work/development use. IMHO of course).
