The Sixth Chart about Climate Change
Authored by: Anonymous on Saturday, November 24 2012 @ 09:02 PM EST
David Roberts' talk certainly did simplify the message, but I found that this
message also was too simple, and left far too many handholds to pull
it apart. The scary part is what if it is true?

Mankind would benefit greatly from Global Warming
Authored by: eric76 on Sunday, November 25 2012 @ 12:11 AM EST
We are currently an estimated 11,700 years (or something close to that) into the
current interglacial warm period between glaciations in the ice age that we are
in and have been in for nearly two million years.

The previous interglacial warm period was 12,000 years long followed by an
abrupt (in geological time) change in climate from warmer than our climate to
today into very cold weather -- something like 400 years but there is a
possibility it was much less.

The real disaster would occur if we were to enter another period of glaciation.
It would mean widescale famine and starvation for much of mankind as the
population contracts to the far smaller population that a glaciated Earth can
support.

If Global Warming can help delay that glaciation by hundreds or thousands of
years, future generations of mankind will be far better off. The best possible
result would be if we were to exit from this ice age and ALL of the ice caps
were to melt. Mankind could then look forward to hundreds of thousands or
millions of years with a far more productive Earth.

We have no reason to fear Global Warming and every reason to welcome it. Don't
listen to the panic mongers who are scared of their own shadows; the sky is not
falling.

The scary thing about Global Warming is not that it might be happening, but that
it might not be happening.

The coral reef thing is actually happening,
so your "debunking" makes no sense when
compared to reality.

I posted it because a lot of readers are
interested in the topic, and because there are
two new reports mentioned in the article.

Your comment by the way does not meet Groklaw
standards. If you wish to do so, put some urls
to substantiate your assertions.

Chicken Little on Global Warming
Authored by: Imaginos1892 on Monday, November 26 2012 @ 02:26 PM EST
6. None of the Global Warming Doomsayers seem to want to
mention that we are currently in the middle of the biggest
Solar Maximum since the Medieval Warm Period 700 years ago.

The sun is hotter, folks. It's putting out more solar wind.
Both of these raise global temperatures, by different means.
Increasing carbon dioxide concentration at sea level from
0.028% to 0.034% is not significant compared to what the
sun is up to.

Let's hope history doesn't repeat, because 200 years after
the Medieval Warm Period peaked, we got the Little Ice Age.
