Director Kappos's Speech on Software Patents, the PTO, and Innovation
Authored by: Tkilgore on Monday, November 26 2012 @ 10:21 AM EST
Actually, someone representing the USPTO _was_ at the conference and moreover
was a speaker on one of the panels.

Thus, one could suspect that the comments on which you are reporting might
actually be a response from on high to the sentiments which were obviously
supported by many of those at the conference. Or to the conference itself.

For, the conference was organized on the premise that there _is_ a problem, a
big one, and the response seems to be more or less of the form "There
really is not a problem, and besides, we promise to fix it."
