This is such an interesting post, and amazing what you can
do with language. Let's deconstruct this, shall we?
1. On Mueller's website, it states "Florian advises clients
on the patent wars surrounding mobile devices, and on their
economic and technical implications." It doesn't state that
he's a journalist.
2. The court ordered the disclosures in August. The
disclosures were already made prior to the court's order,
per your linked articles.
3. There is no transitive bias via law firms. He is paid to
consult to corporate entities, not law firms. He is not
therefore imputed to be biased (assuming bias exists) for
all of M&F clients.
There are a number of ways to read this. Perhaps his
theories and beliefs lead him to be a natural consultant and
ally to those firms. Perhaps he is a gun for hire, and will
willingly change his opinions based on money. Regardless,
those opinions are correct, and incorrect, on their own.
He is a reputable source for the media because he is a
largely reputable source, especially for European coverage.
I would agree that the media needs to note his conflicts
when he is commenting on MS and Oracle matters.[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]
