from Barnacle Bill the Sailor. Look at the header, it says
November
11 2012 (Taiwan time)
This is the agreement between the parties.
This is the document that I said Huh? to in a
previous post. Normally we wouldn't see any of it, so it's
understandable FM is being cautious in how much he discloses to us. The actual
press release from Apple and
HTC is also thin on the ground. When I first
searched Google news with a string from the Press Release it showed me only droid.de in German, test-mobile.fr in
French, e27.sg Singapore based, and seekingalpha.com an investment advisor. When I
search using the PR
headline I get 683 hits, many of which do not carry the
full press release verbatim. Like PJ says, you've always got to verify your
sources.
What PJ has shown us above is the stipulation filed with the
court, saying that the parties have agreed to something that they are not
telling the court what it is they have
agreed to, but that it will have these
certain effects on the case before the court. Now since FM admits the document
he has is heavily redacted, there's probably not much left to show
us, so he
uses an old journalistic trick, filler. Notice the clip and quotes from the
agreement Apple - VIA, also before a court somewhere. Don't be confused.
The people
following Seeking Alpha can't afford to be confused, so that
article's author tries to explain why the market in stocks of Immersion
Corporation, a haptic feedback tech
provider, suddenly surged at the
announcement of the Apple - HTC agreement, and rose again the following day.
Immersion is suing Motorola, and the ITC has the case in hand. Also
Last week, SA's Paolo Gorgo highlighted Immersion's growing Chinese
presence, fueled by a partnership with upstart Android vendor Xiaomi, but also
criticized its execution
in turning discussions into deals. [ seekingalpha ]
I
suspect the figure I read a few months back that 57 companies had suits and
cross-suits in thirty countries may be an underestimate. Those little graphics
like octopus fights need a wall
sized xkcd style dynamically update format.
