Yeah -i and i are totally different mathematically. One is -
SQRT(-1) and the other is just SQRT(-1). Completely different.
Though... I wouldn't expect maths to be most people's forte on

At first glance it may not, but it does make sense with a deeper understanding.
If you think of complex numbers representing a position on a plane, it's just
reflecting the 'imaginary' part. Or doing all of your math in a mirror.
Here is a mental exercise: Imagine a complex plane. Now picture a point at unit
distance at 30 degrees. You pictured it at the "2 o'clock" position,
didn't you? That's the way it's taught. Positive degrees move
counter-clockwise. Why? Why shouldn't they move clockwise? Strictly
