Microsoft's role: help convince someone to invest 50 Million into SCOg!
That's at the least.
What SCOg did with that money (among other
money):
Initiated action against IBM
Threatened litigation against
RedHat who then initiated action against SCOg
Initiated action against
AutoZone
Initiated action against Daimler Chrysler
Initiated
action against Novel after Novel had publicly stated IBM/Linux does not infringe
the Unix Sys V copyrights of which Novell owns
It should be noted the above
list shouldn't be considered complete, I was going from quick
memory.
Given:
Novel was only pulled in after they publicly spoke out
after SCOg initiated their lawsuit against IBM
then I'd say:
If you're
going to include Novel - you should include all the others as well
Because
MS' involvement with regards the 50 Million investment was prior to the lawsuit
with Novell!
With a little research:
MS first starts supporting SCO
by licensing their
tech in 2003.
Later, also in 2003, Baystar invests
$50 million in SCO - later it came to light in the Court filings MS' hand
was in the background of this deal
SCO
vs Novell started in 2004
As you can see - prior to Novell's issues
with SCOg (and vice versa) Microsoft was actively supporting SCOg's attacks
against Linux.
