Two years of profitability maybe, but Microsoft won't be that easy to kill, they
will be able to troll with their intelectual property for quite a while
probably. And, like RIM, they will keep trying to come back from the brink of

Their core product range is profitable and they can squeeze their business
customers a lot harder if necessary. They could reduce costs significantly by
jettisoning the consumer product lines (XBox, Bing, Windows Phone, etc.) and a
large proportion of their staff. The end result would be a smaller but very
profitable Microsoft. They wouldn't dominate the software industry, but they
would still be a significant force in their chosen markets while raking in cash
from legacy product lines. In other words, they would become the next IBM. [ Reply to This | Parent | # ]
