Well, we all have to die some time ... and I've had a half-century - somewhat
more than my dad or grandma - so I wouldn't *mind*.
I wouldn't be happy, though ...
But when you think about it, we do have a problem. The UK started the 20th
century with a population of 20M - now it's 70M. In my childhood the official
population of India was 400M and the world population was less than 4Bn - now
it's 1Bn and 7Bn ... there are TOO MANY people. What are we going to do about
it?
Okay, the UN estimate is 3Bn in 2150, but that's about two lifetimes away - no
good for us today (Oh, and in 1980 the estimate for Y2K was 12Bn, so that 3Bn
could be an overestimate :-).
That basically is the problem. Where are we going to find jobs to give us
prosperity?
Gloomy? I agree :-(
Cheers,
