Have earwax? Leave it alone.

Q-tips risk you injuring yourself if you do them badly.

I had a discussion about using peroxide elsewhere on the internet. From the
description about the bubbling it just doesn't seem like a good idea as bubbling
inside the ear seems like it's asking for pressure to build up. So if water
doesn't work, try drops designed specifically to remove it.

If ear drops aren't sufficient, I recommend getting the wax sucked out by
professionals. I've found that since I've started getting it sucked out every 6
months, I've had no problems with my hearing despite not doing anything else to
remove it.
Without the suction I was having enough wax build up that it blocked my hearing
once or twice a year.

equal proportions?
Then it isn't peroxide just a rather weak solution of peroxide, 33% hydrogen
peroxide would definitely be very bad for your hearing!!!

I use over-the-counter earwax removal drops. They're slow, but do a good job of
softening the wax so it dribbles out by itself.

> I found hydrogen peroxide works

Bit fierce for my taste...

I use isopropyl alcohol if I've got it - it tends to dry the skin in the ear a
bit, but sorts out wax problems and niggling infections.

If I haven't got any, it's a mix of vodka and vinegar...

Well, don't know what happened to my logged in status to get that come up as
anonymouse!!!

Duh, yes it is the pharmaceutical peroxide not high test peroxide, though I
would expect that to clear the wax quite well. The bubbles help flush the wax
out and do not cause pressure issues as they are in front of the wax, my doctor
has used it on me.

As for the mix, it is a standard in diving and swimming to prevent infections.
It kills off bugs, dries the ear out and makes the environment far less
welcoming to nasties.

Tufty (in case I get anonymized again)
