I suspect a lot of our problems in Europe are because of American Colonialism
and the import of a lot of American ideas - as Winston Churchill put it -
"the Americans can be relied on to do the right thing AFTER they've tried
all the alternatives".
Actually, I think the real problem is that we've had neither epidemic nor war
for almost an entire lifespan. Not that I want either, but economic growth and
prosperity for the man in the street relies on a labour shortage. And currently
we are suffering world-wide from a massive labour surfeit.
And those are exactly the conditions which lead to power and wealth
concentrating in fewer and fewer hands. Tough luck to the rest of us ...
