Might it be possible to text one person and
chat with another at the same time? As in
texting your GF while chatting to your
boss?[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]

Simples. If you're texting when a call comes in!
IME, the incoming call trashes your half-written message. And if you're
fat-fingered with a phone, that is a RIGHT pain.
I think my wife has been extremely infuriated on occasion - I think she's lost
an *important* message maybe *four* times - thanks to that little quirk.
Cheers,

But why would you need a "split-screen"? you don't need any screen space
for the voice call, just for the text chat. [ Reply to This | Parent | # ]

This has been something bothering me for a while about the
"tiny mobile screen" adaptations that completely miss the
point of windowing interfaces. Why bother at all if you
can only get one window open at a time? Why does it have
to be "split screen"? I don't mind having to grab a window
and zoom it if the text is too small, but I really really
mind that I can't display two or more windows.
