The easy, comfortable interface is whatever you are used to.

Sinofsky's departure from Microsoft...
Authored by: Anonymous on Wednesday, November 14 2012 @ 03:21 AM EST

It scares me that Larson-Green implemented two of the most hated user interface design changes, and now she will be in charge of Windows.

By hated changes, I'm referring to Office Ribbon and the new metro design on Windows 8.

Fired? Quit?
Authored by: Anonymous on Wednesday, November 14 2012 @ 06:23 AM EST

People are pretty bound up in "did he quit or was he fired?"

In the relatively insignificant IT company I work for it's generally understood that that when it's in the best interest of the company that you go, the nature of your separation is subject to negotiation as long as you don't bring the company into disrepute first. And reciprocally when it's time for you to leave the company behind you will do so with mutual respect and dignity.

We will probably know who was the actor and who the reactor in this interaction someday. Maybe soon. But not today. They're handling this with class for once.

Another Famous Youtube video...
Authored by: indyandy on Wednesday, November 14 2012 @ 07:56 AM EST
We need to bear in mind that if Microsoft does manage to cajole/coerce the world into using their latest offering the video referenced in the parent post may one day become hilarious for the same reasons as the Mediaeval Helpdesk.

As a contented Linux and Android user I hope not!

What! The Microsoft Tablet FREEZES on unveiling?
Authored by: DannyB on Wednesday, November 14 2012 @ 11:44 AM EST
From the article you mentioned, I saw the video where the tablet freezes in the
major presentation of its unveiling.

What is astonishing is that I had not heard this earlier. Usually such a
colossal failure would be industry headline news. But apparently, it wasn't.

What this tells me is that a new Microsoft product freezing or crashing during
its unveiling to the public is no longer even newsworthy.

Wow.
