With linux you're not really a customer, but rather a member of the community.
Some are developers, others provide support or testing, others maybe spread the
word and some just provide feedback by making a choice between the many packages

If you are not paying for it, you're not the
customer; you're the product being sold.
While catchy put, I don't
think blue_beetle knew about Linux, or the GPL.
I think it is not
catchy; it has extra words and they are wrong.
You are not the "product",
because they did not produce you. Instead of passive "being sold", use the word
that means that. See the title of this comment for editorial
correction.
