Tech writers accused M$FT of not making this incompatibility clear enough for people in articles I read earlier. I believe I once read a response from M$FT long before Win8's launch date that they were just ramping up their advertising, and they would make that clear in the end. Cynically, I thought to myself, they won't, because Win8 is all about shoving that Metro interface in your face so you'll get used to it and buy their phone and tablets. That strategy is going to backfire, as demonstrated by your grandmother.
