Or, Ballmer is going to be fired.

that's the problem: not many want to pay to be alpha testers.....
winDOS RT completely lacks a software infrastructure which most likely is the
reason they want to introduce a winDOS8 version as they hope that more
applications will be written for it as there will be a bigger market if the
desktops are included.
They missed the train (as usual) and Android and iOS are the OS's applications
for tablets are written for.

It means in MicroSoft speak that they are going to be quickly killed off and
piled in the corner with other failed hardware launches.

To make sure they die quickly the tales of the new Surface Pro come out and
stomp on what ever sales they may have potentially had.

I picture Steve Balmer as a dinosaur riding a dinosaur in ever decreasing
circles, cheered on by walking dead shareholders.

There's plenty of resourses and smart people in the Company, it needs
restructuring and retargeting.

It may never turn around to be the power it once was, but pursuing frivolous
lawsuits and making poorly developed, "me too" trinkets is no way for
it to die.

Ballmer said that Surface sales have been almost as brisk as the "Microsoft
Minesweeper Deluxe Subscription Service".

Ballmer also took this opportunity to threaten that a “higher-end” version of
the product (Surface Pro running Windows 8) would soon take over the world, once
Microsoft figures out how to distribute it via drive-by download.

"Don't worry" Ballmer said, "we'll patent that too."

The Megahertz Wars Are Back

The Surface running Windows RT is available for purchase by all those that want to experience Microsoft’s latest operating system on a tablet (powered by an ARM processor, since this particular OS is tailored for the slower processors). [Emphasis added]
pocketnow.com   Uhuh, Android and IOS are running on slower processors, the real Win8 will slay them...
