Nerdy kids take the real prize

It hurts to see Apple take after the bullies:
short term goals, small rewards and ill-gotten gains.

Smart kids should know that the bullies never really
get anything worth having in the long run. It's the
nerds and geeks that patiently keep doing their own
stuff who take all the prizes in the end.
By learning complicated things and being creative
you can hope to have a real impact on the world
instead of aiming for the petty short term goal
of ruling the schoolyard.

Apple's schoolyard is now being fenced in to
stop people from leaving, just like Microsoft's
schoolyard has been for decades. They are pretending
it is for protection from the outside, but I don't
see how that lie can work for very long.
