And what gets me the most about all this is, while it's
so obvious to all of
us, it seems like 99% of the press fail
to mention anything at all about this,
and all their
articles come out without any explanation, making MotorOogle
look bad. If I was inclined towards conspiracy theories...
but I can't believe
it is deliberate when such a wide
variety of sources get it wrong. I think
people don't
understand, and therefore Google is failing to get the
message
out.
Google - smarten up! or M$FT and the rotten apple are
going to
eat you for lunch!
I have even thought of collecting all the articles
together on one big page, with a line for publication,
author, and URL,
followed by a brief summary of each showing
exactly where each is failing to
provide the full
perceptive. This would be a good exercise for a journalism
class.
I saw this happen before. Do you remember when we kept
getting
these articles every time some other poor chump OEM
had to settle with M$FT
on their Android tax? Every time,
these articles were saying they expected the
OEM was paying
$15 per unit or whatever it was. I remember I spent a few
hours tracking down the source. All these articles were
simply quoting each
other. Finally I found an article that
attributed this to some analysts in
Korea. All this FUD from
a single, unverifiable source. You must remember, many
of us
speculated these OEMs were simply paying a token, or M$FT
was
actually paying them, but had enough leverage to force
the NDA on
them.
If you guys over there at the FTC have so much time on
your hands
you have nothing better to do than try to find
some fault with Google, I have a
suggestion. Why don't you
look into what I just mentioned, or why don't you
look for
evidence of collaboration between M$FT and the rotten apple
in
their patent attacks on Google? [ Reply to This | Parent | # ]
