The problem is, the low end of the market is where the bulk of the sales are
from. The point which should be made is that Apple only addresses the
high-end market, while Android addresses the entire market - high-end, low-end
and all points in between. This makes Android a much better bet for developers
since there is a potentially a much bigger market for them to tap into, and at
the end of the day it is the developers, or more precisely their apps, which
will save or kill Apple/Android. [ Reply to This | Parent | # ]

After all - at what point did Apple pass Microsoft in value even though Apple
has a much, much smaller share of the desktop market then Microsoft!
You
state:
They outsell all android phones in the US according to
AT&T and Sprint earnings report, and they are close to 50-50 on
Verizon.
While I state:
1 Million phones * $1.50 profit =
less profit then 200,000 * $8 profit!
Of course, that's just an
example. I don't know the profit margin on each of the phones from AT&T and
Sprint's perspectives.
As a result of your use of the word "outsell" - do
you have what some of us would consider the more meaningful number of "number of
units sold to consumers" handy?
