Free download of CrossOver for Linux and Mac today [10-31]
Authored by: JamesK on Wednesday, October 31 2012 @ 12:26 PM EDT
I've installed it, though I don't know what I'll use it for. I don't have any
Windows apps that I want to install.

This is my second freebe from CrossOver
Authored by: Anonymous on Wednesday, October 31 2012 @ 01:31 PM EDT
The first one was when BUSH the DECIDER killed the U.S. economy and gasoline
prices plummeted. I signed up for the challenge. They paid up.
My computer was struck by lightning while my backup usb harddrive was updating
,both destroyed. OUCH!!!'
When I saw the latest offer I jumped on it.
The Crossover download award was seen by me last night at 2:OO AM
It still awarded me a copy even though I was two days late by the date in the
email.
I DO use small windows and dos applets they run fine in wine better in
CODEWEAVERS, or Crossover which seems to have more error checking.

ubuntu/Debian 64 bit issues?
Authored by: mcinsand on Wednesday, October 31 2012 @ 03:48 PM EDT
I am running Kubuntu 12.10, 64 bit, so I downloaded the 64 bit version this
morning. Install failed for dependency issues, but the generic Linux version
installed fine. Anyone else have issues? Anyone know what I may have munged?

Regards,
mc

I read Groklaw everyday but I still got this news too late.
Otherwise I would have tested Crossover.

However this is not big deal, Wine is quite good, and with
Playonlinux a lot of stuff will run, even Photoshop.

I would very seriously consider paying for Crossover if they
gave some specialized support for Photo-Software like:
current Photoshop Elements, Lightroom, DXO I think thats
what a lot of folks would really need. I don't need
Crossover to run Office-Software, or Games and certainly not
for Outlook or Internet Explorer.
