MS Tiles (being sued due to patent)
Authored by: Anonymous on Wednesday, October 31 2012 @ 01:23 PM EDT
Yeah, we probably should.

Then again, this patent sounds awfully similar to the interval ones, so we might
have done the work for them already.

Cheering on the troll against M$FT would be fair and balanced...

M$FT has been attacking Android and Linux with bogus patents
for a long time. It is good to see them get a taste of their
own medicine.

When MS starts being fair and balanced ...
Authored by: nsomos on Wednesday, October 31 2012 @ 01:30 PM EDT
Parent suggests in order
"to be fair and balanced -
should ws start a prior art seach using crowd sourcing
to help MS out on this?"

When MS starts being fair and balanced, then and only
then will I consider doing anything to help MS out.

Except for destroying themselves. I will gladly help
MS destroy themselves at any time, just let me know
how I can help with THAT.

MS Tiles (being sued due to unusability

Could be the reason why Surfcast has no product, and
why MS is not really counting on tiles saving the world.

Although Microsoft (initially said Apple) deserves to be the target of such suits

I still maintain all software patents shouldn't be in the first place!

So yea... from such a perspective finding a way to invalidate the patents would be appropriate.

Is MS really innocent here? Normaly they aren't.
Authored by: marcosdumay on Wednesday, October 31 2012 @ 06:31 PM EDT
Not that I'd ever consider a software patent worth anything (even less this
one). But MS has an history of meeting companies with patents, negotiating a
license, not paying and selling the exact same invention anyway.

They've bankrupt quite a few companies this way already, and made others lose
time to market so MS would launch first.

I have a great idea for helping them out:

Lets provide them with all the evidence that software patents are invalid, so
they can use that as a defence.

Oh, wait, we already did that. Moving along then.
