Is that what those ads are trying to say? I've seen a couple for Windows 8 and
one for the Surface - my first thought on all of them was "what's the
message here?" They were a confused pastiche of disconnected and
uninteresting things that had me wondering what the product was.

Windows 8 ads ignore enterprise

"Upgrading' to a new Windows OS is no longer the first option for IT
departments. If they weren't pushing Win8 to corporate users, perhaps they
learned something from history (Vista), a first for MS. We should be happy for
them!

I saw something today that reminded me of the Windoze 8 UI.....

Specifically, it had a number of differently coloured rectangles arranged on a rectangular background, each with text and/or symbols on it.

It was in fact a sign showing which of an array of colour-coded dumpsters was to be used for different types of waste material, which is a fairly good functional likeness in some ways....
