If it from M$, there is a catch. Never, ever, trust M$ do
anything without 1) gain for M$, AND 2) Harm to any perceived
competition.

it is supposedly open source
Except that the Terms of
Use for that web page expressly forbid redistribution. It's worded funny,
though. It doesn't forbid republishing — it forbids downloading from any
source other that the Microsoft site, making any attempted redistribution a
trap.
In other words, typical Microsoft 'freedom' (none). --- --Bill.

I am totally unqualified to answer. However, the news makes me think of c# and
.NET upgrade hell.
Microsoft have a history of regular and major changes to their development
environments such that previous versions become 'deprecated' and then unusable.
Having a contributing open source community minimises the damage of new
releases. I note that Microsoft seem to have little interest in community
collaboration. It's either the Microsoft way or no way.
In view of their history (as with Windows 8 development platforms) I think
anyone getting into this new language will eventually be left out in the cold
unless they spend all of their time keeping up with the Microsoft changes.
I think the safest response would be 'No way!'.
