Abraham Lincoln’s former law partner, William Henry Herndon,
published a biography of the president in 1889. While gathering material for the
project, he received this letter from a colleague...
Mr. Herndon's
biography of Lincoln is at Project Gutenberg. It consists of two volumes: Volume 1 and Volume 2. The quoted letter is
in the second volume.
